This is the render of the first block of our cave city, rendered in unreal. In this post, you'll find some of the assets and tools we created to setup the scene. Every assets and textures have been created by us, using Maya and Zbrush for modelisations, Substance designer and painter for texturing and of course houdini for the tools to setup the buildings and create some props, like the crates and the banners.
Instanced array mesh Blueprint - A little tool, usefull to create quickly some walls. It simply instanciates some meshes and allows some controls over them to break repetitions.
Banner Generator - Houdini tool to create banner using houdini simulation. We add several parameters to shape the banner and some controls over its support.
Crates Generator - Houdini tool to shape various crate-like props, with control over the lid, the planks' size and the global size of the crate.
